Social Media Training in Portsmouth

Rachel recently delivered marketing and social media training in Portsmouth to 40 Yacht Brokers and Surveyors at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.

Invited to speak by the Yacht Brokers Designers & Surveyors Association, YBDSA as part of their Training Day and AGM the event comprised training sessions and a tour of Boat House Four, followed by a delicious lunch in the National Museum of the Royal Navy. The event fell on the day the Queen came to Portsmouth to visit the Dockyard so security was tight but there was a great atmosphere.

The 40 strong group then moved into the Princess Royal Gallery for the social media training. Many had travelled across the country for the training day and had high expectations of the event. Rachel O’Reilly, creative Director at Morph PR and Marketing used her wealth of marketing experience to take questions from the floor and covered subjects such as defining your markets, personal brand, tone and style and showed examples of a range of social media channels being used in the world of yachting.

Feedback from the event was positive with Jimmy Warrington-Smyth, Yacht Broker, Manager at Parkstone Bay Yachts saying:Sunset from the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

“I met Rachel when she gave a talk on using Social Media for your business. She produced an excellent presentation and clearly knows her subject of marketing inside-out! Very knowledgeable, approachable and helpful.”

“Thanks, Rachel, I hope our paths will cross again soon.”

There was a keen interest in social media marketing from some of the Members of Yacht Brokers Designers & Surveyors Association who realise that increasingly referrals can come from a  wide variety of marketing channels both traditional and newer digital routes. The audience itself was wide-ranging with representatives from large companies such as Sunseeker in attendance to smaller businesses and sole traders. Some brokers were already keenly using social media channels such as Twitter and Instagram whilst others were not tech savvy and were finding the transition to digital channels unnerving. Whilst we all agreed that social media is most certainly not the panacea, it can certainly have a place in your marketing toolkit as part of a robust Marketing strategy tailored to your target market.
