Word of mouth marketing the top way to gain new business.
One hundred and twelve business people from 75 companies attended the ever popular free annual training day at PETA’s Management Training and Conference Centre in Portsmouth.Companies attending included the Southern Co-operative, Wightlink, CEGA Group, BAE Systems, SMR Automotive Mirrors, Portsmouth Water, Radian and Lucketts Travel.
Training sessions covering a wide variety of subjects were available throughout the day, ranging from ‘Dealing with Professional Overload’ to Excel training, information on Zero hours contracts, LEAN, Customer Service to Health and Safety training.

Guest Speak Geoff Ramm of Celebrity Service shared his insights with the audience asking them ‘What does the extra mile look like for your customers?’
Debbie Hayman of Fugro Emu enthused “Geoff Ramm was hands down the best speaker I’ve seen”, and Cherie Butler of BAE Systems snapped up copies of his books to take back to inspire her team.
Asked to vote on two key questions, the businesses in attendance voted ‘Word of Mouth’ as the top way of attracting new business whilst retaining staff and keeping up with technology were the greatest challenges facing them in the coming year. Retaining market share and quality and compliance followed closely behind.
The day concluded with an unusual session called ‘Laughter… It’s Good for Business’ led by Lisa Sturge of Laughterlines Coaching.
